Manchester Airport (MAN/EGCC) is nearing a 28 million passenger record for the rolling 12 month period thanks to continued growth at the North of England hub.

January’s passenger figures saw the UK’s 3rd largest airport hit 27,790,196 for the rolling 12 months, an increase of 7.45% compared the previous period.

The passenger figures look even more impressive when you take into account that one of Manchester Airports biggest airlines, Monarch, collapsed in October 2017.

The airport has recently seen a £215m investment at Manchester Airport from Ryanair which involves basing an additional three aircraft and offer ten additional destinations.

Andrew Cowan, CEO of Manchester Airport, said: “One of Manchester Airport’s strengths is its mix of airlines and destinations, which provide passengers with an unrivalled choice of places to travel to for business or leisure.

“This has contributed to annual passenger numbers growing by more than 7.5% year-on-year, which is positive news for the region.

“As we enter the Spring months, we continue to have strong dialogue with a range of airlines about launching services to destinations across the globe, at the same time as progressing the £1bn transformation of the airport.”
